The conglomerate zone of Sarroch covers a surface area of 734.56 hectares, 90% of which is occupied by the SARAS oil refinery and its associated petrochemical plants and service operations.
SARAS is one of the largest petroleum refineries in the Mediterranean, with a processing capacity of up to 18 million metric tonnes of crude oil per year, producing each year: petrol (3,440,000 tonnes), LPG (290,000 tonnes), jet aircraft fuel (510,000 tonnes), diesel oil (5,140,000 tonnes), fuel oils (2,280,000 tonnes), petrochemical extenders (1,650,000 tonnes) and sulphur (65,000 tonnes).
